What role should culture play in how a person's health issues are handled? Is this demonstrated in the health system today? Support your position with examples and/or evidence.
Culture plays a very important role in how a person's health issues are handled for example; the industrialized societies such as the Western society of the United States, consider disease as a result of natural scientific phenomena, such societies promote medical treatments to cures infections and promote the use of sophisticated technology to diagnose and treat disease. However the other that are from the underdeveloped countries; believe that illness is the result of supernatural phenomena and promote spiritual interventions and prayer to please the annoyed supernatural forces. Thus the role of culture in all societies today should be towards education leading to awareness about health so that the disease can be prevented or their progression delayed. This is demonstrated in the health system today as the acts such as the Affordable care act are directed at steps that generate awareness pertaining to health that can lead to prevention of the diseases.
