Discuss a way that the court system reproduces inequality in each of the four categories. The four categories are: rules, lawyers, institutions/courts, and parties.
The political system in modern civilization has been busy engaging scholars to work on the demographic hazard of poverty and inequality and how can a better financial plan rehabilitate it. There have been efforts to rehabilitate the orphans, refugees, and people below poverty lines through economic reformative measures. However, researchers have identified other underlined elements that keep reproducing the inequality in our society, such as;
1. The rulers, who are supposed to be the custodian of law and courts can still influence the courts and the judges. From time immemorial kings used to influence the court functioning and laws. With the power to appoint the Justices and the power to impeach the Judges, the Parliaments can have indirect control over the court system.
2. Lawyers; Though the system is made to be equal to the whole society irrespective of the positions and wealth, still in reality the lion-share of the legal services is benefiting the wealthy class who can have the best lawyers to customize the trials, at least to some extend.
3. Institutions/courts; The Occupy Wall Street movement in 2011 in the US had showcased the instances in which the powerful and influential class in the society could influence the government system and judiciary. The social selective and market-driven approach in society does keep the door open for the reproduction of inequality in institutions.
4. Parties: Racial influence in the electoral practice, using the influence of economic power hands in the machinery of the parliamentary election, influence the poor and labor class with a racist approach to canvas the vote all have made parties increasingly reproduce the inequalities. The lack of proper rules and regulations to curtail their advancement made the scenario increasing than retarding,
With an intellectual awakening through educational advancement towards the need of a complete transparent and democratic social structure, the reproducing of inequality by all these institutions and individuals can evaporate from our society.
