What is the relationship between One-Sample Test, Two-Sample Test, Analysis of Variance, and Regression? How do you decide on which test to perform?

Solutions

Expert Solution

These are all different test

one-sample t-test is used when there is only one variable and you want to compare the mean to a specific value

In Two-Sample Test , there are two independent variable, and you want to compare the difference in means between them

In Analysis of Variance or ANOVA , there are greater than or equal to 2 levels

and we compare the means among them

Ho: µ1 = µ2= ..µk

Ha: at least one mean is different

For regression, there is one independent variable and one dependent variable

we want to see how change in independent variable affect dependent variable

y^ =a+ b* x

Regression analysis is often used to provide a means to express the relationship between one or more input variables and a result. It is easy to plot in Excel (“add trendline”) so is found frequently in business presentations. Your company has made a model with 10 different factors measured from past years’ and states based upon the model, the company expects to make a 23 million dollar profit next year. Discuss possible concerns with banking on the 23 million dollar...
