Describe the following types of epidemiology. Search the Internet for an example of each type of epidemiological study and briefly explain each example. Must provide the reference. (0.75 pts) • Molecular and genetic epidemiology • Environmental epidemiology • Occupational epidemiology • Injury epidemiology
Molecular and genetic epidemiology seeks to combine
traditional epidemiological concepts on study design and risk
measurement with principles frommolecular and cellular
biology, making it uniquely able to: Establish disease etiology.
Characterize disease risk factors. Identify susceptible
populations.
Environmental epidemiology is a branch of epidemiology concerned
with determining how environmental exposures impact human health.
This field seeks to understand how various external risk factors
may predispose to or protect against disease, illness, injury,
developmental abnormalities, or death.
Occupational epidemiology is a subdiscipline of epidemiology that focuses on investigations of workers and the workplace.
Injury epidemiology is the characterization of injuryoccurrence, the identification of risk factors and the strength of effect of those factors, as well as potentially protective factors related to the development and evaluation of injuryprevention strategies and programs.
