Childhood Obesity is the major issue in the United States. The number of childhood obesity is increasing which leads to lack of physical activity among children. It also leads to poor self-esteem which results in drop out from the school. This provokes the way to the health problems such as high cholesterol level, blood pressure, and type II diabetes.

This is a Chicago based organization works with the help of a number of volunteers ( students, parents, wellness supporters,) to fight against childhood obesity. It is a collaboration work of several organizations, corporations, governmental agencies which helps the schools to be a better place for a healthy kid. It also includes the child in nutritious lessons. Its main mission is to include the professionals, communities, and families to lead healthier schools where children can have healthy food and physical activity.

The main Goal is to make efforts in order to achieve all schools in the U.S must provide healthy foods, physical education, physical activity, quality health by the year 2030. It also implements wellness policies and health programs to prevent childhood obesity.

It is a national health program at the state level with a commitment to change the schools into the healthier environment by providing physical activity to the children at least 60 minutes daily and to meet the Nutritional standards.

It is important because the childhood obesity provokes the way to the health problems such as high cholesterol level, blood pressure, and type II diabetes. So to have a healthy child Action for Healthy Kid is necessary.

By the Year 2014, Action for Healthy Kids reaches up to 29000 schools and covered about 12.8 million students. The volunteers are also increased to 120,000 in the year 2017. There is the number of core supporters, funders, and partners help this campaign.

Every one should involve in fighting against childhood obesity as it is our responsibility to make the child grow healthier. The parents have the responsibility of teaching good eating habits to their children and make them involved in physical activity. Be the first among the campaign of Action for Healthy Kids.
