If you were in charge, what kind of leadership style (Example: Transactional & Transformational leadership) would you choose to adopt? Why?

Answer 1. Transactional and Transformational leadership are two different styles of leadership that have their own approaches and strategies to lead the team and organization. First, we will discuss the transactional and transformational leadership styles.

Transactional Leadership: Transactional leadership style is one in which the leaders or executives believe in achievement organization goals and employee performance by providing rewards and punishment to the employees. It is one of the leadership styles that is widely used by most of the leaders all around the world. In this style of leadership, leaders motivate employees and get their best performance to achieve organizational goals by giving rewards and punishment whenever it is required.

Transformational Leadership: Transformational leadership refers to the leadership practice where leaders work with their team and encourage, motivate and inspire to create change and help the organization grow. This is the modern approach to leadership. In this leadership style, the leaders work with their team and find out the changes required in the process, find out the solutions and executing the changes with inspiration and motivation to the employees.

If I were in charge, I would like to choose the Transformational Leadership style. Because in transformational leadership, leaders and employees/teamwork together with the best possible solutions to the problems. In this way, I can increase my followers because everyone wants their ideas and opinion should be heard. In this style leaders and employees work together, everyone in the team can give their ideas and opinions to improve the performance of the individual and the organization, this will help an individual to grow and give their best outcomes towards achieving organizational goals.

All the leaders listed in the question have a transformational leadership style with them. All of them believe learning with vision and find solutions & changes towards the barriers in the organization. But most of them and other top CEOs in the world are facing main concerns in their leadership today, those are as follows:

a. Communication Issues: This is one of the biggest concerns that many of the leaders are facing in today's organizations. Most of the CEOs are facing communication issues with their team. They have built great organizations with great value, great culture, and great vision. But something is still missing. That gap is direct communication with their team to have their opinions, solutions, and ideas towards organizational issues. These leaders are busy in building companies and don't have time to listen to their teams. These things should be changed in the organization.

b. Not sharing workload: This is the other concern great leaders are facing today. They think that they alone can make plans and this makes them work exhausted every time. They are not finding time for themselves and always busy with their work. The work should be allocated once the work culture has been established in the organization and leaders should work on other innovative ideas to promote innovation and creativity in the organization.

Answer 3. There are many lessons I have learned from my experience, and observations from the leadership style of others. The top two lessons that I think should be a part of everyone's leadership style are as follows:

a. Communicate with your team: As per the observation from the leadership style of others, I found that most of them have issues in communication with their team. This is one of the biggest mistakes leaders are facing. We should communicate with our team on what is happening in the organization and the issues the organization is facing today. Working with the team can have so many solutions to those problems. Everyone has their unique style of thinking about the issues and solutions and communication with the team can give the best solutions for the problems. We should show our team that their ideas and opinions are being heard in the organization and they have every right to discuss the ideas and solutions in the organization.

b. Don't stop learning: Today the biggest organizations are successful because the leaders and executives have not to stop learning. Learning is one of the main criteria of a great leader. Learning could be from our failure, from other successes or from literature. Reading books, traveling, communicating with others is the best source of learning. Knowledge is the key to success. So we should not stop learning to become a great leader.
