Marvin R. Ellison regarding sustainability or corporate social responsibility. Explain how he supports a corporate sustainability policy in his organization
Sustainability is the ability to Withstand all hardships and perform well in the long run and
Corporate Social Responsibility is the duty/responsibility that an Organisation owe to the society in which is it functioning.
Sustainability is about growting and earning profits in the long run and Corporate Social responsibility is about sharing a small percentage of such profits with the needy of the society
Corporate Sustainable Policy on the other hand is about creating a long term value from a financial ,social and ethical perspective.
Companies that doesnot take care of the environmental needs or duties and violate ethical codes cannot be successful in the long run.so sustainability of the corporate will be in question
Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility go hand in hand
Many Businesses have some value (goodwill) only because of the reputation it has earned among people or its customers. It is valuable more than any asset that it has earned over its life.It decides the sustainability of the business rather than its profitability in the long run.
Financial goals that violate social and ethical norms cannot help in sustainability of the business. So Corporate Sustainability policy must be drafted having concern to all stakeholders(including people of the society in which it is established though they may not own even part of a single share)
Company must develop a corporate Sustainability objectives and plan having in mind its financial and ethical targets and function considering the welfare of the society in the longrun
