In this question there are 2 parts.
1. types of health care setting and their service
2. applicability of HCPCS( HEALTHCARE COMMON PROCEDURE CODING SYSTEM) Level II coding in health care setting....
so first part.....
three examples of which type of health care setting we would use HCPCS Level II coding.......
HCPCS Level II coding basically this system is designed to help and solve the cases of health care insurers as the various medical claims are processed and ractified in an systamatic and consistent manner, so they need a standardized coding systems.
overall it is a medical procedure codes with alphanumeric code and is of five characters long, and each starts with a letter (letters A through V) and four numbers...eg
H codes ......H0001–H2037 .........for ....Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Services
L codes ......L0112–L9900............for.... Orthotic and Prosthetic Procedures, Devices
R codes .....R0070–R0076...........for..... Radiology Services...........etc
now comes to health care system....
health care setting can be devided on basis of the needs and the facility the provided to the dependent community...like..
a. general hospitals setting...b. nursing homes settings...c. ambulatory care settings....d. rehabilitation center settings....f. only outpatient clinics settings....g. specialty care hospitals....h. treating doctor or physicians' offices...etc
so as we see the HCPCS Level II coding and common type of health care setting.and the example of a service that would be rendered in that setting...... apply them togather with example...
1...in acute care or general hospitals settings we need HCPCS Level II coding as it deals with all thpes of medical and Pathology and Laboratory with radiology services and all others as coded by HCPCS Level II.
2...in Specialized hospital setting .... again the requirement is the same as we need HCPCS Level II coding as it deals with all thpes of medical and Pathology and Laboratory with radiology services and all others as coded by HCPCS Level II.
3..in ambulatory care centers settings... though this type of service is primary delt with the kind of patients who do not require overnight hospitalization. it basically delt with simple surgeries to diagnostic testing or initial therapy....so it also required HCPCS Level II coding....
