Secondary data are the type of the compiled data available in registries and similar databases. These secondary data are collected for the purpose of Quality assessment, Performance analysis, Patient Safety Research programme evaluation and review of Health administration policies to support long-term planning and budgeting implementation in an organization.

these registry may provide patient/population index, disease index as wel as the physician index.

Thse disease registry are widely used to collect secondary data with regards to patients along with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

For this purpose there are various specific registries also availble like cancer registries, diabetes registries, birth defect registries and the immunization registries.

Aparfrom that there are various governmet agencies based databases which are used for the collection of the secondary data.

And further these data are analyzed using latest tools of data analysis.
