According to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP 2016), nurse practitioners (NPs) are licensed, autonomous clinicians focused on managing people’s health conditions and preventing disease. Nurse practitioners in the family practice specialty diagnose and treat patients from childhood to adulthood are known as Family nurse practitioners (FNP).

The FNP’s are advanced practice registered nurses mostly worked to deliver family-focused care. Generally the FNPs can possess with a graduate-level education and simultaneously they are trained advanced in the field of clinical training about family medicine. FNP can work with patients on maintaining health and wellness throughout their lives with a particular focus on preventative care like for medication prescribing, conducting exams and diagnosing illness. In the family, FNPs offer a wide range of healthcare services like counseling across the lifespan, direct care to prevent disease and health promotion.
