Here , I would like to qoute an example from Kerala, India.

It was in May,2019.

A group of you doctors were warned against featuring their photographs in unethical advertisements.

  • according to media reports the issue was raised in 2019 May, after a few doctors associated with a corporate hospital where featured in a newspaper advertisement of the hospital with their photographs and other details.
  • The state wing of Indian medical association has received many complaints on this against the doctors from various places regarding displaying their own photographs and other details for their promotion which is against the medical ethics.
  • Search advertisement bring an idea that the corporate organisations use their doctors as the faces for the sale of their products and services.
  • Since the higher heads or the owners of those corporate organisations the actual reason for this violation of ethics, the doctors wear want and the advertisement was removed completely.
  • bhai lo American practitioner is allowed to advertise in an ethical manner according to the clause 6.1 of the code of ethics.
  • doctors can publish advertisements on starting of a practice or special service unit, on change of type of Practice they are offering, on changing their address, on temporary absence from the duty, on resumption of another practice, on a succeeding to another practice and to for public display declaration of charges.
  • hospitals or the corporate organisations or the owners can do advertisement on the hospital services without photographs of the registered practitioners or doctors working there.
  • aise future healthcare administrator I can prevent such an issue from happening very well by certain small farsighted actions like - implementation of a signed affidavit by the Health Care professionals including doctors such that they will not engage or involve in any kind of advertisements, public declaration, activities for social influencing with their photographs for any sort of advertising uses; implementing digital performance chart for every healthcare workers including doctors where II ethical violations and any kind of mistakes can be noted as black mark and the professional will be terminated once he or she has reached three black marks if the violation are of lesser impact and immediate termination if a single violation leads to severe harms to the patient.

NB. This is a simple example from Kerala. Hope it helped you. Happy learning. All the best. Stay safe. Please do not hesitate to give thumbs up.
