Question 30 options: A) DNA-dependent RNA plymerase (transcriptase) enzyme B) RNA-dependent RNA plymerase (transcriptase) enzyme C) RNA-dependent DNA plymerase (reverse transcriptase) enzyme D) DNA-dependent DNA plymerase (replicase) enzyme E) DNA-dependent RNA plymerase (transcriptase) enzyme
Question 31 (1 point) The influenza viruses posess segmented ssRNA, an envelope, and a helical nucleocapsid. Question 31 options: True False
Question 32 (1 point) The shape and size of a virus are a function of its nucleoproyein. Question 32 options: A) True B) False
Question 29: Concerning enveloped viruses. The viral genome codes for all the proteins present in the people.
False.
The viral genome doesn’t code for all the proteins present in the people. It carries only vital genes which are vital for it’s survival.
Question 30: Retroviruses, such as HIV viruses, must carry (bring) a ________ enzyme in order to be able to replicate.
C) RNA-dependent DNA polymerase (reverse transcriptase) enzyme
Retroviruses have RNA as the genetic material. They live by exploiting their host’s machinery of replication, transcription, and translation. In order to do that, they must carry an RNA-dependent DNA polymerase (reverse trancriptase) which converts their RNA into DNA. This DNA is then used to make mRNA and proteins using host’s machinery.
Question 31: The influenza viruses possess segmented ssRNA, an envelope, and a helical nucleocapsid.
True.
Question 32: The shape and size of a virus are a function of its nucleoprotein.
True.
The amount & arrangement of nucleic acids and proteins present inside the virus are the determining factors of it’s size and shape.
