Please share your reflections on the importance of volunteers and their value to the health community. (500 words)
Without volunteer to relay on, it is hard to imagine how the public health industry or health community could fulfil it's mission. No one wants to be admitted to hospital. But a friendly face devoted exclusively to the non-profit clinical needs of patients and their supporters can often make all the difference. This can be the case particularly at times when people are anxious or when they feel disconnected from their family and community.
The impact of volunteer is goes far beyond the doctors and nurses who volunteer their time and expertise to free clinics. Many people who want to help others do not need health care experience to support efforts like educating the public about health and safety issues, answering phones at clinics and health hotlines, or delivering meals to seniors.
They help the hospital run smoothly. And allow doctors and nurses to spend their time focusing on providing the best healthcare for their patients.
Volunteers play a key role in strengthening our society by acting as a bridge between sociaeconomic divides and it provide services which help to build a cohesive society.
If volunteering in hospitals can save staff time, increase patient satisfaction, improve patient outcomes and help improve prospects for young volunteers from all communities, then surely we must all agree that we should create more opportunities for impact volunteering to flourish.
