1.  Students will discuss how preconception interventions to prevent the development of psychiatric disorders might be integrated into nursing curricula.

  • Providing Genetic counselling and explaining the consequences of consanguineous marriages .
  • Smoking and consumption of alcohol may affect the brain of the fetus , so stop these habits
  • Environmental stressors like increased noise, temperature, pollution of air, water which may cause a stressful situation may also affect the mother which may be a risk factor in preconception period.
  • Health of the mother should be taken care. Intake of folic acid , iron rich foods helps in brain development of the fetus in future
  • Screening the mother for any chronic diseases so that if mother's health is in good condition .
  • Protect the mother from lead exposure.Mercury may be present in large fishes which may affect the nervous system ,so limit consuming it.
  • Birthspacing is essential
  • Screen mother for any sexually transmitted diseases or any infections which may affect the nervous system of future fetus
  • Education about adolescent menstrual health and avoidance of teen pregnancies should be provided.
  • Counselling and life skills education should be provided

  • Drug abuse and alcohol dependence
  • Domestic violence like physical abuse, etc
  • Child abuse and child battering
  • Sexual abuse
  • Neglecting and emotional abuse

These all may cause behavioural and psychological changes which sholud be monitored and treated by counselling and medications.

3. Students will identify interventions that are designed to reduce bullying across the life span.

  • Programs should be organised in schools and colleges to educate students about ill effects of bullying.Involves parents also in it
  • Equality should be taught to students by parents and teachers .
  • Severe treatment should be given to students who bully others.
  • Self esteem development classes should be provided to all students
  • Appoint a antibullying squad in schools for monitoring .
  • Videocameras all over schools may prevent the students to bully other
  • Social worker should be available
  • Bullying in any form any where around should be stopped , even the bystanders should stop it rather than watching.

4.Students will identify resources that focus on helping families who have members deployed.

  • Provide programs to enhance the social skills of children in families of members deployed
  • Provide guidance ,grief assistance and counselling to families
  • If any children with special needs are in the families support them
