In the ground state of atomic hydrogen the electron can be pictured as existing some- where within a distance ∆x from the position of the nucleus with ∆x interpreted as the uncertainty in the position of the electron.
(a) If ∆x is taken ot be the Bohr radius, calculate the uncertainty in the momentum of the electron.
(b) If the uncertainty relation is written as rp = h(bar)?, the energy of the hydrogen atom can be expressed by
E(p)=(p^2/2m)-(e^2p/h)
Calculate the minimum energy of the hydrogen atom.
