List at least three surface imaging techniques, and describe advantage and disadvantage of each one.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Three surface imagine techniques

1. Stereoscopic vision

2.structured light

3.ToF

Stereoscopic vision, structured light and ToF are considered as three major techniques and actively investigated because they provide higher resolution, high speed, and intuitive applicable principle compared to others

1.Stereoscopic vision

Advantages of stereoscopic vision

Stereoscopic vision also helps humans to handle and manipulate small objects with their hands. Animals that have this type of vision can use it to navigate through dense jungle, thus helping to ensure their survival against predators.

Disadvantages of stereoscopic vision

Perspective cues are fundamentally ambiguous and require a host of assumptions to interpret. But stereo vision has significant disadvantages too. First, for animals no less than for makers of 3D movies, stereo is expensive. Most obviously, it requires duplication: two eyes must scan the same region of visual space.

2. Structured - light

Advantages of structured light

Faster scan times.Produce dense and accurate data.
Higher detail levels.Takes the full view of the object with full field scanning.Safe for people, even to the naked eye.

disadvantages of structured light

The disadvantages of this method are its limited spatial resolution and the number of patterns needed to uniquely encode a scene. The spatial resolution using binary codes is limited by the projector's and the camera's resolution.

3. TOF

Advantages of TOF

Advantages of using TOF for broad spectrum analysis includes increased mass accuracy and mass resolution, greater sensitivity, rapid acquisition, and increased dynamic range when profiling over a broad molecular weight range.

Disadvantages of TOF

The greatest limitation of MALDI-TOF includes low analytical sensitivity without prior culture and the discrimination of phyletically related microorganisms such as Shigella and Escherichia coli.
