37.0mL of NaOH is required to titrate 70.0mL of 0.155M H3A to the volume where pH=pKa2. What is the molarity of the titrant?

Solutions

Expert Solution

      2NaOH + H3A ----------> Na2HA + 2H2O

     2 moles    1 moles

   NaOH                                                 H3A

M1 =                                                    M2 = 0.155M

V1 =37ml                                             V2 = 70ml

n1 = 2                                                   n2 = 1

     M1V1/n1    = M2V2/n2

      M1            = M2V2n1/V1n2

                     = 0.155*70*2/1*37   = 0.586M
