For each of the following variables, determine whether the variable is categorical or numerical. If the variable is numerical, determine whether the variable is discrete or continuous. In addition, determine the measurement scale.
a. Number of times the individual changed jobs in the last 5 years
b.Fragrance that the individual wears most frequently
c. Amount of gasoline used for driving per month
d.Day on which the person is most likely to shop online(Monday,
Tuesday, etc.)
a. Number of times the individual changed jobs in the last 5 years
This is numerical variable. Because we are counting number of times the job is chnaged.
This is diecrete numerical variables. The number of times job chnaged can take only finite countable values like 1,2,3,4 and so on.
b.Fragrance that the individual wears most frequently
This is categorical variable. The fragrance can not take any number.
c. Amount of gasoline used for driving per month
This is numerical variable. The amoutn of gasoline used can be measured.
This is continues discrete variable. Because amoutn of gasoline used for driving per month can take all possible values.
d.Day on which the person is most likely to shop online(Monday, Tuesday, etc.)
This is categorical variable. Because it represenst the day category like Monday, Tuesday
s we are counting number of times the job is chnaged. It is didcrete numerical variable because the number of times the job chnaged can take only finite values like 1,2,3,4. It takes the value which we can count.
