General characterestics osf staphylocoocus

Stsphylococci is a gram positive organism with spherical cell ,which is arranged in irregular grape like clucter forms. it may have capsules and there are different 31 species. Commonest cause of localized suppurative leions in human especially skin, hair and anterior nasal area. it is non-motile and mainly classified into two coagulase positive and coagulase negative. it is about 0.5- 1.0 micro milli in diameter. They grow in cluster pairs and occassionally in short chain forms.

For isolating staphylococcus from heavily contaminated sample the process is called gram staining method.

the organism is isolated by streaking material from clinical sample especially blood culture onto solid media such as blood agar or soy agar. specimen contaminated with other micro organism can be plated on 7.5% sodium chloride which allow staphylococci to grow.

the commonest culture techniques includes tryptic soy broth at 37. C and BHI culture ( brain heart infusion)

we can differntiate staphylococcus from other organism by mostly staphylococcus related to clinical infection and they are arranged in pairs or cluster form or short chain and they are anaerobes capable of growth both aerobically and anaerobically.

staphylococcus is a anaerobic gram positive organism which appears as grape like clusters with golden yellow colonies often with hemolysis, when grown on blood agar plates.

staphylococcus are appears either grape lie clusters or short chain forms
