Expert Solution

Discuss the importance of follow-up assessments post-reaction.?

It is important to assess the patient following a drug reaction.it will help to know whether the patient has recovered from the Anaphylactic reaction .Anaphylactic reaction can end up the patient into severe complications of respiratory distress ,hypotension and eventually cardiac arrest.so it is a nurse responsibilities to followup his vitals and physical examination to rule out the changes and progress as expected.

What further needs does Kenneth Bronson have at the end of the scenario that future nursing care should address?

Nursing care should address his anxiety related to the treatments and hospitalization .

6. Reflect on how you would communicate with family members in an emergency situation if they were present at the bedside?

I would explain the current drug reaction happened and make them calm by providing the information on the Anaphylactic reaction management available .Also will be explained about the expected recovery time and outcomes post drug reaction.

7.   After completing the simulation and reflecting on your experience, what would you do differently (or the same) for the patient experiencing acute respiratory distress?

As i experienced a drug reaction simulation for first time i realized how to act during a drug reaction in the future .For instance a patient went on respiratory distress due to Anaphylactic reaction .I will stop the drug immediately,i will assess the Airway breathing and circulation .I will be providing oxygen and comfortable semifowlers position for the patient .I will do post reaction assessment till his vitals comes to normal .

8. How could you prepare for clinical in order to plan ahead for potential patient emergencies?

This learning experience gave me an insight to plan for my real patient in the future.

  • I will ask for allergic reaction before administering any drug and document.
  • I will try to give the medication in a slower rate and watch for the initial reaction before the rushing the medication.
  • Also i will closely observe patients vitals and reaction for the first antibiotic dose.
