Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:
Is radiation of species static or ongoing? Explain.
Basically radiation is the rapid increase in the number of species with common ancestor, characterized by great ecological and morphological diversity. The driving force behinf it is the adptations of organisms to new ecological contexts. The diversity of galapagos finches results from radiation. Some species eatmostly other animals, other seeds or plants , somefeedin the trees, some on the ground. All these species share a common ancestor and are now characterized by broad ecological and morphological diversity. Radiation occurs when a singleor small group of ancestral species rapidly diversifies into a large number of descendant species. Among factors that can trigger radiation, ecological oppurtunity is probably foremost. An ecological oppurtunity occurs when a small number of individuals of a species are suddenly presented with an abundance of exploitable resources. All these factors suggests that radiation of species is an ongoing process.
