discuss the psychological impacts of reproduction loss in women and suggest four ways women can be supported within the health care system to achieve stable mental well-being
Reproductive function loss is one pf rhe common problem
globally. Reproductive function loss is not a disease but has great
impact on mental and social well being. Infertility can be related
to males or females. But in most of the cultures and society, women
are the ones blamed for infertility.
Sometimes women with reproductive function loss are not accepted by
their spouse, family or society amd have to face rejection.
These factors result in increased mental, social, emotional and
financial burden on the women. This has great impact on
psychological health and results in feelings of depression,
anxiety, worthlessness, guilt, worry, grief and regret. Some women
have a feeling pf failure and low self esteem.
The four ways through which women with reproductive loss can be
helped by healthcare system are :
1. Counselling : provide the patient with psychological
couselling. Explain her that its not her fault and she should not
be guilty. Help her to make choices regarding various treatment
options.
2. cognitive behavioural therapy : this therapy aims to change
unhealthy patterns of thought or behavior and promote positive
thoughts. It also provides various coping strategies to
stress.
3. The treatment costs for reproduction loss is very expensive and
put financial burden on the patient. The healthcare system should
help the patient to know about various insurance policies that will
cover the costs and reduce expenses.
4. The healthcare system should discuss with the patient how they
want to break the news to their family or spouse or do they want to
keep it confidential. The healthcare workers should respect the
choice made and support their decision. Healthcare statem should
practice safe and secure methods for storage pf patient information
and do not violate patient's privacy at any cost.
