Exercise
Diabetic diet
Weight loss (body mass index or hip ratio)

(Australia has a high rate of diabetes in population with this number expected to increase dramatically in the next decade. What are the environment and social factors that lead to this incidence? What factors increase the risk for our aboriginal and Torres strait islander communities.)
The main health promotion goal is to reduce the disease rate and improve the quality of life of individual.
S.M.A.R.T goals stands for specific,measurable, attainable, relevant and time bound.
Exercise:
It plays a vital role to control blood sugar level .A simple 30 minutes walk a day could control the lewel in normal ranges
Diabetic diet:
The goal should be eating small and frequent portion of meals can control sugar effectively.Every three hours instead of eating 3 big meal in a day
Weight loss,:
One of the common risk factor is excess weight a strict diet control and exercise is must.
Smoking cessation
Smoking along with diabetes increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.The main goal is to cut down on this
Foot and care
Diabetic neuropathy and diabetic retinopathy occurs due to poor uncontrolled sugar level. Regular eye check up and foot care should be done ( proper fitting footwear, no injury)
In Australia people above 25 years are at risk and getting diabetes due to various factors like environment and social factors.Some are modifiable factors like excess weight, impaired glucose tolerance test,physical inactivity, poor diet ,nutrition , low birth weight,peer pressure of smoking,wrong eating habits.
When compared to the non aboriginal people the incidence and rate of obesity, smoking, gestational diabetes, heart disease, stroke, physical inactivity ,poor diet are high factors which increase the risk of diabetes in this group of people.
