Ans) Behavioural change theories are attempts to explain why behaviours change. Whereas models of behavior are more diagnostic and geared towards understanding the psychological factors that explain or predict a specific behavior, theories of change are more process-oriented and generally aimed at changing a given behavior.
- Strengths-The main strength of the HBM is its use of
simplified health-related constructs that make it easy to
implement, apply, and test. The HBM has provided a useful
theoretical framework for investigating the cognitive determinants
of a wide range of behaviors for over three decades.
Limitations of Health Belief Model-
There are several limitations of the HBM which limit its utility in
public health. Limitations of the model include the following: It
does not account for a person's attitudes, beliefs, or other
individual determinants that dictate a person's acceptance of a
health behavior.
