in your own words who is responsible for preventing a pregnancy? Who should initiate a discussion of birth control methods? Who should pay for the device used or the medical appointment needed? How do you resolve conflicts about which method to use?
In my opinion, the ultimate responsibility for preventing a pregnancy rests upon the two consenting parties involved. We live an era today where topics pertaining to sexual health are being discussed openly, without shame and stigma attached to it. We should thus make use of this opportunity to educate ourselves of all the repercussions that might result from being sexually active especially those relating to unwanted pregnancies.
In this context, it is extremely important for parents and teachers to initiate healthy discussions with respect to birth control methods. Adolescents tend to rely on peers for 'advice' relating to such matters, but having an experienced and knowledgeable source convey sensitive information is much more trustworthy and reliable.
When it comes to payment, I think it's a role that primarily should be taken up by the family members, however, it would be idealistic if the state and the community members take up the responsibility of wavering or reducing the cost of any devices or medical appointments that would be required.
Any conflicts that arise should be clarified by a medical expert in the field.
