List all he similarities and differences between moss life cycle and the fern life cycle
Differences
Ferns belongs to pteridophytes which possess vascular tissue xylem and phloem. Where as mossess lack vascular tissues. In ferns main plant body is sporophyte but in mossess plant body is gametophyte. Mossess possess two predominant stage of gametophyte ,a protonema stage and leafy stage. Ferns lack these stages. In ferns plant body is differentiated into true root, stem and leaves. True root , stem and leaves are absent in mosses. In ferns leaves are large called macrophylls which is not seen in moss. In moss sexual reproduction develops into zygote , which give rise to sporophyte. In ferns zygote develop into embryo.in moss sprophyte does not have an independent existence it is also assosciate with gametophyte. , where as fern has independent existence of sporophyte. Ferns require cool , damp, shady places where as moss grow in humid, damp place.
similarities
Both require water for fertilization. Sexual reproduction takes place between sex organs anthredia and archegonia. Zygote formation is seen in both. Both possess sporophyte and gametophytic stage.
