List the features that are found in eukaryotes but not prokaryotes. What are advantages provided by these features??
Features found in eukaryotes but not prokaryotes include- The Nucleus, Golgi-apparatus, E.R., Mitochondria, Chloroplast, Lysosomes, and Cell Membrane
Features found in eukaryotes but not in prokaryotes includesas follows:-
1) In eukaryotes genetic material is enclosed by nuclear membrane and called nucleus and helps to protect DNA from cytoplasmic material while in case of prokaryotes DNA is naked called nucleoid
2) Eukaryotes have definite membrane bound golgi appratus which play role in protien packaging and sorting while in prokaryotes no such structure is found
3) Eukaryotes have definite membrane bound endoplasmic reticulum which plays role in protien synthesis and protien folding, as it provide non-reducing evirinment for protien synthesis while in prokaryotes no such structure is found
4) Eukaryotes have definite membrane bound mitochondria which plays role cellular respiration and ATP generation as it provide site for storage of all repiratory enzymes and protien folding, while in prokaryotes no such structure is found alternate to it mesososmes are found
5) Eukaryotes have definite membrane bound Chloroplast which plays role in carbohydrate and protien synthesis, as it provide non-reducing evirinment for protien synthesis while in prokaryotes no such structure is found
6) Eukaryotes have definite membrane bound lysosomes which plays role in storage of various hydrolytic enzymes, while in prokaryotes no such structure is found here all enzymes are present in cytoplasm
7)eukaryotes, have plasma membrane which contains sterols and carbohydrates. In prokaryotes, plasma membrane does not contain carbohydrates or sterols
