WOMENS INEQUALITY IN CANADA :1999 -2008
During this period Canada had enough resources ,infrastructure and
to ensure the women equality.Despite this economic prosperity of
Canada there were no sufficient measures taken to promote equality
of women in Canada.Instead Canadian government removed services
that women relied upon and introduced strict and restrictive rules
which prevented women from accessing the benefits available and
made the lives of women miserable.Single mothers ,women under the
poverty line ,widows were the ones who suffered more.
When we go refer the statistical data of the Canada we can see that
eventhough the general poverty rates have shown a decline since
1983 the poverty rates of women hasn't declined significantly. The
poverty rate for women is always higher than the men population in
Canada.Even though Canada boasts to be one of the richest country
in the world one out of eight women still suffers from the
poverty.
Among the poor women in Canada aboriginal women were the poorest in
Canada.Aborginal women in Canada faces many issues such as
unemployment .Even the employed ones are marginalized workers and
these women are more prone to violence also.Aborginal women does
not enjoy the same rights of aborginal men. They are no protection
measures or law support for these section of women in Canada and
the violence towards these women still continues.
Canadian women have limited access to opportunities and benefits
.Race of Canadian women is one of the major factor that contribute
this increased inequality.Disabled women in Canada is comparatively
more poorer than the disabled men in Canada.
