Aldosterone: Aldosterone is a mineralocorticoid hormone, secreted by the adrenal cortex , that regulates the balance of Sodium and potassium in the body. Aldosterone is secreted by the adrenal cortex of Adrenal gland in the body . The main function of Aldosterone is to retain sodium by acting on distal renal tubule and collecting duct of Nephrones. Thus causes water retention also. Thus increasing the blood pressure. Aldosterone helps in the secretion of Potassium also.
