(a) Answer:- a nurse may legally refuse to care for a patient
who has threatened to harm her physically/legally.
- nurse may refuse an assignment on a basis that she is not cross
trained to work in, this may lead to punative measures.
- a nurse may not refuse to give standard nursing care in an
emergency situation, even if the situation is not familiar to
her.
(b) Tarasoff law:-The legal duty of a psychiatrist or
psychotherapist to warn an identifiable victim of a patient's
serious threat of harm.
-whenever possible, decision confidential patient communications
should be discussed with the clinical team, including the patient's
psychiatrist.
- It is appropriate to notify the police.
- make a talk to the patient.
(d)when there is conflicts between nurse and patients, the study
of conduct and character, determines what is good and valuable in
individuals.
-ethical code may be used to resolve conflicts between the patient
and nurse.
-Its a personal belief about the worth of a given idea, attitude,
custom, or object that sets standards and influences
behavior.
- Nursing value is to maintain human dignity, integrity, autonomy,
altruism etc.
