Gastrointestinal Infections:
a) What is the most likely cause of his infection?
b) What special infection control precautions are needed in the hospital setting when caring for a patient with gastroenteritis?
a) Stomach flu or viral gastroenteritis canbe caused by contaminated food and water,contact with someone who already infected , unwashed hands after using toilets.
b) Use gloves, and impervious gown when contact with the patients or patients environment, especially in patients toilets. Keep high level hygienic condition in the hospital.Protect eyewear or mask to avoid contact with facial splashing . disinfect the room and area of the patient after leave the hospital as well. Before admit another patient in that room dispose all the item used by the infected patients.
c) Food intoxication is the infection caused by the ingestion of food contaminated bacteria which grow and develop inside the human intestine. food intoxication is caused by bacteria which live on the food and contaminate them , whle consume the food it enters the intestine. Major food poisoning bacterias are campylobacter, staphylococcus, clostridium, salmonella, etc.
Vomiting happen during food poisoning beacuse abdominal muscles and diaphram contract strongly , forcing to involuntarly bring up the content of the stomach and pass out through the opening mouth.
