In the 1960s, psychedelic drugs enjoyed immense popularity among many. From Woodstock 1969, however, things started to change and the popularity of psychedelics started to decline. Briefly explain (4) reasons for this decline in your own words.
Psychedelic drugs are hallucinogenic class of psychoactive drugs. Its primary effect is to trigger non ordinary States of consciousness and psychedelic experience via seratonin receptor agonist.This causes specific psychological ,visual and auditory changes and often a substantially altered state of consciousness. These drugs works by stimulating or suppressing the activity of the neurotransmitters ,this causes temporary imbalance in the brain which causes hallucinations and other effects such as euphoria. Drugs under psychedelic classification : *Lysergic acid diethylamide. *Dimethyltryptamine.
Side effects are :Increase Temperature,blood pressure,loss of appetite,dilated pupils,involuntary rapid eye movement,dizziness,dry mouth,sleep problems ,feeling of relaxation.
Indications are anxiety,addiction,and post traumatic stress syndrome.
Use of psychedelic drugs was reduced due to *High side effects than uses. *Availability of various drugs with huge uses. * Different medications for each mental disorders are available.
