UNICEF - UNITED NATIONS CHILDREN'S FUND

Formerly know as United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund comes into existence in 1946 operating in above 156 countries and many territories of the world. There are many international organizations, which are working for health like WHO, Red cross, CARE,UNICEF, Save the Children etc. There are different purposes and targets of each organization in the world.

UNICEF is the organization which I firmly admired the most. We can see that in many large organisation some parts of it are stronger than others and it is better in some countries than others.

UNICEF is a versatile organisation in that it works in both humanitarian and development settings and is involved in both advocacy and programming. UNICEF is especially strong in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), HIV, Nutrition, Education, gender equality and Child Protection. UNICEF have been playing a very important and critical role in benefits of health of the children.

Children's health is very important part of any country's development. We can see bright future if our children are in good health. UNICEF always advocates children and give them a voice, a right that they should not be ignored.

Although whether any part or country needs help like that of financial, health related or there is any food shortage UNICEF always stand with these countries in bad times as in calamities like earthquakes, communicable disease outbreak, drinking water problem etc. Volunteers helps in combating cholera in Yemen, Mine risk education campaigns in Ukraine, care and helping of children in Bangladesh refugee camps, providing tablets and internet access through UNICEF's Connect my School programme which helps children to learn new concepts of learning in Nigeria are the Humanitarian actions done by UNICEF. This organization works with governments, states, NGO's, community based organizations as well as with religious and other cultural groups, with general public, interact with families through their volunteers and provide the help and aid the coping and healing process and programme in the times of conflict and emergencies.

I admire UNICEF psychologically also because when I see a picture taken by a South African photographer Kevin Carter in 1993, that a toddler trying to reach the food center and a Vulture landed near the child. Whenever I see that picture I felt that this will great help of the humanity, if we support organizations like UNICEF, which provide help to the poor people.
