How does Force affect a wide and narrow grip pull ups? Does velocity, acceleration, displacement have something to do with it?
In narrow grip pull ups hands are close and palms facing you. The body weight is lifted by force applied by muscles in hand. The whole mechanism can be easily understood by considering a simple Lever mechanism. The moment due to weight is countered by the moment due the muscular tension force. Since hands are close therefore the moment arm for body weight is small hence comparatively smaller effort is required.
While in wide grip pull ups hands are at larger distance with palms facing away from you, this increases the moment arm of weight hen more effort is required.
Moment of force = moment arm X force
