The following conditions can be diagnosed by CT scan Heart Disease--a ct scan is used to find calcium deposits in plaque of people with heart disease. A doctor may also order a coronary ct angiogram to get pictures of the arteries in your heart. This patient would be referred to a cardiologist. Emphysema--a ct scan is used to spot focal lucencys (emphysematous spaces) which measure up to 1cm and are located centrally within the second pulmonary lobule. This patient would be referred to a pulmonologist. Liver Masses--on a non contrast ct the masses are usually not seen due to the similarity in density between the mass and the liver tissue. Thus a contrast CT is required. These patients are referred to a hematologist
IN 2-3 LINES WHAT DO YOU AGREE AND HOW WOULD COMMENT?
A coronary CT scan is a computed tomography scan of the heart for the assessement of severity of coronary artery disease.Specifically it looks for the calcium deposits in the coronary arteries that narrow arteries that can increase the risk of heart attack. The doctor after examining the CT scan would refer the patient to a cardiologist because a cardiologist is a specialist in heart and he would treat the patient correctly.
Emphysema can be accurately diagnosed with a CT scan.In patients with centrilobular emphysema , areas of lucency can be seen surrounding the centrilobular artery and have a patchy upper lobe.Since the problem is concerned with the lungs the patient is referred to a pulmonologist ( doctors specialized in dealing with diseases involved in respiratory tract)
The conspicuity of a liver lesion depends on the attenuation difference between the lesion and the normal liver. On a non enhanced CT scan liver tumors are not seen because the contrast between the tumor tissue and surrounding liver tissue is too low.In a contrast scan some special dyes are used to highlight the areas of the body to be examined. The patients are referred to a hematologists who is a specialist in the cause, treatment and prevention of diseases related to blood. As any damage in the liver can be investigated by the changes in red blood cells count.
