A hospital employee is transporting a patient to the imaging department for a CT scan. After pushing the gurney into the elevator, the employee drops an item and bends over to pick it up as the elevator doors are closing. The employees head is struck by the elevator and the employee is injured. Evaluate whether or not this incident needs to be reported and investigated. Justify your answer?
