1) Brushless DC Motor

----

a. Explain the working principle by supporting with visuals which are drawned by yourself.

b. Give at least five samples to the most common areas of use.

c. Explain how to read nameplate of the chosen machine by giving an example.

d. Give the torque-speed charachretistics and explain how this figure is used in real application.

Solutions

Expert Solution

a)

b) Common areas of use:

- Vacuum Machines both households and industrial, to generate high pressure air.

- Drones, aerial vehicles, aircrafts etc.

- In Hard disk drives, CD-DVD drivers.

c) The name plate usually contains the specified operating voltage of the brushless motor and the RPM. Including the driver current and the polarities of the wires.

d) Torque-speed characteristics generally help in finding the optimum application of the brushless motor, such as in drivers, machines, aircraft etc. Torque is the maximum rotational force that the motor can generate and speed relates to the RPM of the motor.

Design and analyse of a circuit which turns a DC motor at a speed which is proportional to how much a temperature is away from a set temperature, and turns: Clockwise when temperature is greater than (say) 25 degrees C. Anticlockwise when the temperature is less than (say) 20 degrees C.
