Expert Solution

Molar mass of cyclo hexane,C6H12 is = (6xatomic mass of C ) + ( 12 x Atomic mass of H)

                                                        = ( 6x12) + (12x1)

                                                        = 84 g/mol

Molar mass of cyclo hexane,C6H12O is = (6xatomic mass of C ) + ( 12 x Atomic mass of H)+Atomic mass of O

                                                        = ( 6x12) + (12x1)+ 16

                                                        = 100 g/mol

The chemical reaction is : Cyclohexanol cyclohexane

                                        C6H12O C6H12

From the balanced equation ,

1 mole of C6H12 obtained from 1 mole of C6H12O

OR    84 g of C6H12 obtained from 100 g of C6H12O

       M g of C6H12 obtained from 0.480 g of C6H12O

      M = (0.480x84 ) /100

          = 0.4032 g    ----- This is the theoretical mass

Given actual mass of C6H12 obtained is 0.276 g

So percentage yield = ( actual mass / theoretical mass) x 100

                             = (0.276 / 0.4032) x100

                            = 68.4 %

Therefore the percentage yield is 68.4 %
