Describe barriers/difficulties in promoting/incorporating changes related to Nursing Informatics in the clinical setting.
Nursing informatica is the integration of IT and academic nursing in the hospital sector to provide a quality care to the clients. It involves the usage and provision of data to the clinicians, nurses ,other health workers ,consumers in a efficient, way. The barriers in promoting changes in Nursing informatics are-:
1.Inadequate number of computers available for the work .
2. Unreliable internet and network connections which will cause wastage of time and energy.
3.Discouragement by the surrounding people who are in the clinical practice.
4.Increased work load ,as this is a new initiative ,the people recruited are less and work is more.
5. Lack of IT knowledge, like about the computer language ,and different health software.
6.Lack of confidence ,whether I will be able to perform the task because we got training in practical nursing and in using the computers.
7.Age- age plays an important role in understanding the task by the professionals -who are older will take more time to learn the applications and will be practically slow depending whether they had a previous knowledge of computer basics.
8.Motivation and acceptance to change-The inner motivation to have a change in behaviour also plays an important role ,like if a clinical nurse is not interested in informatics or they does not want to upgrade from the current job profile ,and forcing them to get in IT will be cumbersome.
