Yes, medical treatment has made astounding advances over the years. However, the packaging and delivery of that treatment is often inefficient, ineffective, and consumer unfriendly. These problems beg for innovative solutions, so why is innovation so unsuccessful in health care?
Innovations are made for better outcome for quality care but the amount spent on innovations in healthcare are very high. The medical innovations are first to be analysed so that it donot cause any harm to people .Usually people think that the innovations should be cost effective, full quality and also easy to use. There are more barriers when an innovation is made.Misguidance and misconceptions among people make an innovation unsuccessful.New drugs ,medical devices and diagnostic methods costs high because of increasing economy. The insurance companies should approve new innovations and also support it as it is for good cause.Funds needed for innovations should be made available by the government and new policies with regulations for innovations to make it effective , and useful to public .Competition exists in medical field and also between innovators which should be healthy competition ending up in new methodologies to safeguard the people from health issues rather than exposing the weaknesses of the innovations by both competitors.
Vaccines for many killer diseases like small pox, polio helped very much in limiting the infection treatment and devices , even eradicating small pox. Those vaccines were new during that period, but accepting them lead to good effect. There are new innovations at present too but there are empowered consumers and cost-pressured payers demanding accountability from health care innovators.
Innovators must therefore be prepared to respond to those seeking accountability for a new product’s or new service’s cost-effectiveness, efficacy, and safety.
Thus the innovations should be made if it is necessary and for saving the population and direct them in realistic proper path.
