In Oklahoma bombing, an army veteran had turned into an anti givers activist, who, fused a rented truck and walked away from the truck, and after a few minutes, fuel oil and fertislisers that were present in the truck, which were almost thousands of pounds, and the truck exploded. This led to the killing of 186 people and many people got wounded.
The next biggest act of terrorism was that of the WTC, 9/11, which had death toll many times greater than that of the Oklahoma City bombing. The former was the act of active patriotism whereas the latter was the act committed by Osama bin Laden of sheer terrorism.
Both the acts, despite the way they were committed, left thousands of family members affected down their guts, with a situation that they might not have even imagined the night before going to bed. The city bombing was a brutal attack carried out by a mindless paranoid person, and 9/11 exposed our vulnerabilities. McVeigh’s Act was an act carried out by an American against the American government, but the act committed by bin laden, was an act Carried out by bin laden, as a war against America, by the Muslim fundamentalists.
One of the main lessons learnt is that there have been serious issues in confront command as well as control in most of these large incidents. Inter agency process of reporting an incident has not been done which would provide better networking. The separate agencies process data and make reports separately. There have still not been proper rules made about gun control , with an event as latest as the Las Vegas shooting. There are things government can do to prevent certain things from happening, though it is really upon the government to decide on those steps.
