"Resistance to change is an irrational response." Do you agree or disagree? Explain. WORD LIMIT SHOULD BE 150-200
Answer:
No, I do not agree. It is in our DNA for humans to knock a finger when everything is going well. When change comes we can move away from our comfortable balance. When change happens, power, influence, allocation of resources can all change.
Resistance is a normal response that changes. If they think their safety or status is in danger, people naturally rush to the rescue. For example, Folger and Scarlicki (1999) claim that "organizational changes can create suspicion and resentment among employees, making it sometimes difficult or impossible to implement organizational reforms."
It is the responsibility of the manager to understand the employees' resilience and to act on them, which often moves the employees towards accepting and seeing significant changes in their and the organization's vision. This is often accomplished through open communication and the participation of employees in the change process. If management does not try to work with resistance, does not understand and accept them, it can undermine even the best of intentions and good ideas. The ability of any management to get the most out of change depends on how effectively it creates and maintains an environment that minimizes resistance behavior and encourages acceptance and support.
