Cockroaches are Omnivorous. Cockroaches are an ancient and highly successful form of insect life.They are also called roach. They have been in existence since Pennsylvanian time.As per fossils record, it indicates that they achieved an optimum body form early in their evolutionary history and have remained a very stable group since that time.Any of about 4,600 species of insects that are among the most primitive living winged insects, appearing today much like they do in fossils that are more than 320 million years old.

Characterstics of Cockroach:-

Body is Flattened and oval ,long thread like antenna and shining black integument. Head downwards and mouth is pointing backwards

Male has two wings, where as female sometimes wingless or has vestigial wings and it produces eggs in oothecae.

Cockroaches prefers and present mostly in warm,humid and dark temperature.

  • They also feed hard and soft .
  • Biting and chowing type of mouth parts

Digestive system is divided into three parts :-

1 Fore gut 2.Mid gut 3. Hind Gut
