How is the current Japanese healthcare system structured, financed, and reimbursed?
How has Japan compensated for the increasing costs of an aging population?
1. Japan’s health care system is regarded as the aptest health care system in the world. The main health care assets in Japan are hospitals and so a global health insurance system was recognized in 1961. The aim of the health care system and the authority was to issue fair entry to required and sufficient health services to the whole group of people at a comparatively low price. For this, the potential of the people to access services and uniform availability of the health services was kept as a goal.
Financing of the health care system occurs by taxation and half by installments. Employers and employees one and all donate 50% of the installments. Personal insurance is paid for by one and the other employee and the employer. Thus 95 percent of the protection for individuals occurs. 30 percent of the health fee must be paid by the patients in Japan. If the fee is too much more than affordable, 80-90% of the reimbursement would be available.
