Taenia solium a) how to isolate (sputum, blood, fecal matter, etc.) b) where found-niche (water, air, food, etc.) c) what media (nutrient, starch, etc) d) selective growth condition (aerobic, anaerobic, etc.) e) identifying traits f) give virulent facts (those that help it be pathogenic) g) disease it may cause h) how each disease could be treated
TAENIA SOLIUM
(a) ISOLATION:-
-ELISA technique
-immuno chromatography
-liquid chromatography
-western blot technique
(b) NIICHE:-
-T.solium is pork tapeworm that live in the intestines of some
animals.
-Animals can become infected when grazing in pastures or drinking
contaminated water.
- Eating undercooked meat from infected animals is the main cause
of tapeworm infection in human.
(C) MEDIA:-
(D) SELECTIVE GROWTH CONDITION:-
-as the tapeworm lives in the intestinal contents which is oxygen
free or anaerobic.
-The energy is derived from the breakdown of glycogen.
(E) IDENTIFYING TRAITS:-
- it is also called pork tapeworm.
- it is parasite inside human intestine.
- Man is the primary or definitive host, the secondary host for
T.solium is pig.
(F) VIRULENCE FACTORS:-
-T. solium contains a number of virulence factors that allow it to
survive amidst the host immune response.e.g. paramyosin, which is a
protein that inhibits C1q; taeniaestatin (proteinase)inhibits the
classical and alternate pathways of complement system.
-The oncospheres susceptible to antibody and complement
responses.
-but metacestode is more resistant larvel stage.
(G) DISEASES:-
-Taeniasis
-cysticercosis
