There are three major provisions of the privacy rule in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.They are as follows
Portability provisions in HIPAA rule aims to reduce number of unemployed individuals & self employed not having health insurance,by making them avail the health insurance. It also aims in preventing individuals from losing health care coverage due to a preexisting condition, like changing to a new employer’s health plan.
