1. A client is in the middle of an extensive ritual that focuses on food during lunch. However, the client is scheduled for group therapy, which is about to start. What action should the nurse take? 2.Identify anxiety-reducing strategies the nurse can teach? 3. A 29-year old secretary, who is obese, has visited seven different doctors in the past year with a complaint of chest pain and shortness of breath. This individual is certain she is having heart attack in spite of the health care providers reassurance that all test are normal. What type of disorder is this? What nursing actions are indicated?
1.Nurse has to allow the patient on ritual that focusing on food during lunch. Because that is a treatment for eating disorder. Group therapy means a group of specialists will give some activities or treatment for group of people's. In that specific communication skills, behaviours etc will teach for a group of people. That is not for a specific person. But in eating disorders treatment, that will be person oriented. So that should be attended by patient.
2.Anxiety reducing strategy:
*Give health education for the client related to the specific topic.
*Practice meditation, yoga etc.
*Encourage them for group activities.
*Divert mind by music or other recreational activities.
*Assign some duties what they have interest.
*In eating disorders, provide food with some bad taste for making them on lack of interest with that food.
*In eating disorders reduce the quantity of slowly.
3.A. Hypochondriasis or illness anxiety syndrome:
It is a condition in which the person believes that he has an life threatening disease. For a small symptom also, they will think they have serious medical condition like that. Herevalso that only. Because all reports are normal, and doctors also stated that, client not have any disease condition. Bt then also he feels he have major health problem.
B. Nurse's action
*Assess the patient and check vital signs for identity whether he have any ussuse.
*Provide comfortable place for relaxation
*Provide health education to client about that specific condition.
*Compare the original condition, with signs and symptoms of client , and explain that to client both are different.
*Detaily explain about lab reports and make client sure that he is nornormal.
*Educate family members to give support for the patient.
