Ans 1 : We know that a simple random sample takes a small, random portion of the entire population to represent the entire data set, where each member has an equal probability of being chosen.

So, in this method of sampling, we select a random area of Miami Dade Country and consider it to represent the country as a whole. We now have a limited area to gather information or the view of people living in that area. From this information we can get an idea about the views of the population as a whole.

Ques. 2 : How would you collect a stratified sample for this situation?

Ans. 2 : First of all we should know why is there a need of Stratified Random Sampling

Stratified sampling is used when:

• A researcher’s target population of interest is significantly heterogeneous
• A researcher wants to highlight specific subgroups within his or her population of interest
• A researcher wants to observe the relationship(s) between two or more subgroup. and
• A researcher’s goal is to create representative samples from even the smallest, most inaccessible subgroups of the population he or she is interested in

Here we need to follow certain steps given below

The process for performing stratified sampling is as follows:

Step 1: Divide the population of Miami Dade Country into smaller subgroups, or strata, based on the members’ shared attributes and characteristics.

Step 2: Now Take a random sample from each stratum in a number that is proportional to the size of the stratum likewise above method.

Ans 3 : In this method the researcher can divide the population into clusters, where clusters can be cities and select one or few to collect the informartion and views to deduce the result. iN this method data collected from Cluster represents the whole population. Cluster sampling is often more economical or more practical than stratified sampling or simple random sampling.

Ans 4 : Systematic Random Sampling means collection of data from a regular interval within the population. For collection of samples under this method we need to follow the following steps

1. Calculate the sampling interval (the number of person in the population divided by the number of person needed for the sample). Lets take sample of 100 person from a population of 1000
2. Select a random start between 1 and sampling interval. i.e. 10
3. Repeatedly add sampling interval to select subsequent person.
4. Therefore Views will be collected by the researcher from every 10th person he met while collecting the data.
