Quarter 8 is the final course prior to taking your NCLEX license exam to legally practice the profession of nursing. As a nursing student you have been exposed to theory, clinical experiences, simulations, and skills. To prepare for licensing, what strategies will you employ to ensure a successful NCLEX outcome? Describe 3-4 strategies you will utilize to promote your success.
STRATEGIES TO ENSURE A SUCESSFUL NCLEX OUTCOME TO PROMOTE SUCESS:
1. Global words such as always, all, everyone, never, none, only, every, must, should be viewed with caution because they imply that there are no exceptions. eg nurses should be cautious in interviewing clients with alcohol dependency.a) These clients always exaggerate. b) These clients are never consistent.
2. Most comprehensive answer: choose the answer that includes all the others, which is referred as" umbrella effect"
3. check how reasonable the answer is by imagining a specific situation to yourself. eg, The question might read, "The best approach when interviewing children who have irrational fears is to: a) Help then analyse why they feel this way." Ask yourself if it is reasonable to use freudian analysis with 2 year old children.
4. Eliminate any answer that takes for granted that anyone is unworthy or ignorant. eg. in the ques. The client should not be told the full extent of her condition because. " a poor response would be," she would not understand. choose an answer that focuses on the client as a worthy human being.
