In 300 words Perform an Internet search on two vaccines of your choice. Locate the VIS (vaccine information sheet) for each and provide information about those vaccines. For example, what do they immunize against, who should receive them, what are the risks of non-vaccination, what are the side effects, when are they contraindicated, etc?
Here I am going to explain about polio and rabies vaccine.
Polio vaccine-
There are two types of polio vaccine-
1. Inactivated Polio Virus Vaccine( IPV)
2. Oral polio virus vaccine(OPV)
Polio vaccine is used to prevent poliomyelitis. Polio is serious illness caused by Virus called poliovirus. Polio mainly affects children under the age of 5 years. Polio is very infectitious. The infection spreads from person to person through contact with infected person. Specially the children should get polio vaccine at these ages-
2- months, 4 months, 6-8 months and booster dose at 4-6 years.
Polio is severe disease causes disability and even death of infected person.
Common side effects of vaccine include-
low fever
joint pain
bodyache
drowsiness, mild fussiness, or crying.
Vometting.
Rabies vaccine-
Rabies vaccine is used prevent rabies. Rabies is virus that is usually spread by bite of an infected animal.
Without early treatment it can be fatal. Rabies causes inflammation of brain in humans and other mammals. The person who is exposed and has never been vaccinated against rabies should get 4 doses of rabies vaccine.
One dose right away and other on 3rd, 7th and 14th days.
Rabies infection caused from animals leads to encephalomyelitis that is the inflammation of brain as well as spinal cord.
Common side effects of vaccine are-
Pain, swelling, itching or redness , headache
Dizziness
Muscle pain
Nausea
Stomach Pain
